Describe the problem without guessing

You may be asked where the property is, what type of door you have, and when the trouble began. Explain what you can see from a safe distance. A door that rises crookedly needs a different assessment from an opener that makes no sound.

Mention past repairs, weather damage, and any changes to the garage opening. If you have an older home, say whether the door or hardware has been replaced before. Avoid moving a damaged door just to answer a question.

Ask what the visit includes

Before agreeing to an appointment, ask about the visit charge and whether it applies if you decline the repair. Find out whether the provider expects to assess the problem first or can quote a clearly defined installation.

Read the quote with the provider
